Stand true and faithful

This week there was a quote that stood out to me in one of the readings and it was the talk by Gordon B. Hinckley titled Stand True and Faithful in which he says

"I urge each of you young women to get all of the schooling you can get. You will need it for the world into which you will move. Life is becoming so exceedingly competitive. Experts say that the average man or woman, during his or her working career, can expect to have at least five different jobs. The world is changing, and it is so very important that we equip ourselves to move with that change. But there is a bright side to all of this. No other generation in all of history has offered women so many opportunities. Your first objective should be a happy marriage, sealed in the temple of the Lord, and followed by the rearing of a good family. Education can better equip you for the realization of those ideals."

This talk was given in 1996, twenty one years ago, in which he talks about how the world will change. Well we live in that world. The world is different now than it was twenty years ago. I think about how this was about the time my mother would have been finishing college. My mother is now the main provider of my family, with out her receiving her degree I do not know what would have happened for my family in our time of need. She as a woman is able to do so much. Because of that I can not imagine my life with out working in some way. I have been inspired by my mother to have a degree in case the winds change and I need to be able to provide or help provide for my family. I love that we are encouraged by a prophet to go to school, get married and start a family. We can then teach our children the spiritual and secular things of the world.
